I had expectations of delicious homestyle food, but my meal was flavorless as so was my husband's. I had the chicken fried steak and the breading was just sad. I feel you are definitely paying for the atmosphere not the quality of food. I'm very surprised it had so many high ratings, being from Dallas...perhaps the lack of competition in the Waco lowers the bar.

What an unique old fashioned restaurant patterned after an old garage. The food is great and so is the service. They also have a luncheon special. Great place to take some fun pictures.

We were here on Saturday night which is the night they offer family dining. You order your entree and the veggies are served family style. We ate the chicken fried steak, chicken strips and poco loco. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was awesome. The owner is a hands on man with a bubbly personality. On Saturday night they have an Elvis impersonator. When he began singing I thought he might be lip syncing but he wasn't. His voice was awesome and he interacted with all of the patrons. When in Waco I would suggest visiting Jakes for good food, good service and a friendly atmosphere.

First of all, this place looks like a good time as soon as you walk in. I ordered the trio of salads - chicken salad, vermicelli salad and fruit with poppy seed dressing and a carrot/zucchini muffin. Every bite of it was scrumptious. Top it off with freshly made banana pudding and you leave a very happy camper. Yum!!

Their chicken fried steak was amazing! They has rolls, black eyes peas, corn, mashed potatoes and green beans - yummy!
